About

Collaborative Sexual Health was founded on the belief that every adolescent deserves access to comprehensive, inclusive and skills-based sexual health education from trained educators.

Liz has a B.A. in Gender Studies from Occidental College, a Masters in Education from Boston University and four years experience teaching sexual health in a public high school.

What is skills-based health education?

Skills-based health education is comprehensive, inclusive and grounded in the framework of 8 skills thought to be critical in promoting positive health outcomes. These skills include the ability to communicate effectively, analyze influences, access valid information and resources, make decisions, set goals, and to advocate on behalf of self and others. Sexual health is:

“…a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. For sexual health to be attained and maintained, the sexual rights of all persons must be respected, protected and fulfilled.”
